The RBI faces a challenging tradeoff as the economy grapples with sustained supply shocks, particularly in food inflation, over the past few years. Despite a slight decline in the average CPI to 5% this year, the prolonged high inflation poses a risk of spillover effects, says Sajjid Chinoy, Chief India Economist at JPMorgan.
