Initial claims for state unemployment benefits increased 6,000 to a seasonally adjusted 223,000 for the week ended Jan. 18, the Labor Department said on Thursday. Economists polled by Reuters had forecast 220,000 claims for the latest week.
The Diageo-controlled liquor major’s revenue increased 14.4% to ₹3,433 crore, beating the Street projection. Shares of United Spirits Ltd ended at ₹1,500.85, up by ₹42.65, or 2.92%, on the BSE.
Having bounced back from the lower range, the Nifty 50 index could move up gradually towards the upper range of 23,400 levels in the near term, analysts say.
The EBITDA margin stood at 25.7% in the third quarter versus 23.3% in the year-ago period. Shares of Mankind Pharma Ltd ended at ₹2,610, up by ₹94.95, or 3.78%, on the BSE.
The company posted a net profit of ₹427.8 crore, up 1% from ₹423.3 crore in the previous quarter.
Shares of Bondada Engineering Ltd ended at ₹559.00, down by ₹29.05, or 4.94% on the BSE.
The company’s assets under management stood at ₹8,936 crore, representing a 14% YoY decline from ₹10,404 crore in Q3 FY24. Shares of Spandana Sphoorty Financial Ltd ended at ₹341.70, down by ₹17.40, or 4.85%, on the BSE.
The company also reported a 31% YoY increase in renewable energy certificates (RECs) traded on its platform, reflecting the increasing demand for renewable energy in the country. Shares of Indian Energy Exchange Ltd ended at ₹167.50, down by ₹0.65, or 0.39%, on the BSE.
Shares of the travel and tourism firm were trading 0.3% lower on the tech-heavy NASDAQ at $102.81 on Thursday.
